Student Citizenship Scholarship

Dear FHS Community and Friends:

We’d love your help increasing funding for our annual scholarship initiative. Currently, the  FHS PTSO offers one $750 scholarship to a graduating senior in good academic standing who has demonstrated acts of citizenship both in and outside of the FHS school community.

Ultimately, our goal is to increase the number of scholarships we provide our students.

Any funds donated specifically for this scholarship will support that cause exclusively.

Cash, checks made out to FHS PTSO, or Venmo @FHSPTSO, last  4- 6511.

You can also offer your support through the Hannaford Gift Card Program.  Contact Melissa Schulz for more information: melissa4fhs@gmail.com

If your student is interested in applying for this scholarship- applications are available in the guidance office.  The deadline for applications is April 26, 2024.

Thanks for your support!

Senior Auction Donation Request

The Senior Class is looking for auction items to add to the Senior Class Online Auction fundraiser that will be happening from April 1st - April 8th!

This auction helps raise money for Project Grad. Project Grad is a program designed to

keep kids safe on graduation night. Your donation helps the youth of Freeport stay safe while having fun! The funds from the online auction go directly to fund their night of events. We are looking for gift certificates, excursions, camp or ski house weekend donations, experiences, yard clean-up services, carpentry, car detailing, artist work, and more. Anything you’re willing to donate can be deducted from your taxes and will help make this fundraiser a success!

If you do not have a good but would be able to help us collect donations, please let us know.

We have set 3/29 as our deadline for collecting donations. The auction will go live from 4/1-4/8."

Thank you for your help!

Thinking About a Gap Year at College Decision Time

Watch Live on Zoom: Thursday, April 11th at 7:00pm

By April, seniors have heard from schools, and for other reasons, some may now be thinking more seriously about delaying the start of college. Some have not even considered a Gap Year until now, and are feeling a bit lost without understanding the process, and how they would create structure for a Gap Year.

Join Katherine Stievater, Founder of Gap Year Solutions, for a webinar presentation and Q&A to answer these and other questions that always come up at college decision time. She will also cover the benefits of taking a Gap Year, and how more students are choosing this path to improve college readiness. Join the Live Zoom at 7:00pm »

Juniors take the SAT's on April 4th!

All Juniors will take the Digital SAT on Thursday, April 4. Students are registered through FHS and the cost is covered by RSU 5.

Students will report to their testing room at 7:50. Testing rooms will be posted outside of the Guidance Office ahead of time.

Students who attend R10 on White Days will stay at FHS for testing.

Most students will be done with testing by 11:00. Please have your parents complete a permission form  if you would like to be dismissed at that time. If your parents are unable to access the online form, we have paper copies in the Guidance Office. Students who do not have a permission form will be required to stay at FHS until dismissal at 2:20 and will be sent to a study hall. All juniors who stay at FHS will have Lunch B.

Khan Academy offers excellent free resources to prepare for the exam. Students can link their College Board account with Khan for personalized prep.

Feeling a little anxious about the exam? Check out this resource from the CollegeBoard to help relieve some of that test anxiety!

DEVICE WARNING

CELL PHONES, SMART WATCHES, AND OTHER DEVICES THAT CAN ACCESS THE INTERNET (EX. LAPTOPS) MAY NOT BE USED AT ANY TIME DURING THE EXAM SESSION INCLUDING DURING BREAKS! IF YOUR PHONE RINGS, IF YOU LOOK AT YOUR PHONE TO CHECK THE TIME, IF YOU ARE CAUGHT USING ANY OF THESE DEVICES AT ANY TIME WHILE ANYONE IS TESTING, YOU WILL BE DISMISSED AND YOUR SCORES WILL BE CANCELED.
