American Heart Association (AHA): Delicious Decisions - A site for learning how to eat right, stay fit, and establish good habits for a lifetime. Features the AHA Food Pyramid, grocery shopping advice, recipes, heart-healthy tips for dining out, and suggestions for a fitness routine. From the American Heart Association.

Carbohydrates: Going With the (Whole) Grain - An overview of carbohydrates and their role in nutrition. Discusses the glycemic index, insulin, whole grains, and high-carbohydrate and low-carbohydrate diets. Includes links to related articles and resources. From the Harvard School of Public Health.

Dying to Be Thin - An exploration of the eating disorders anorexia and bulimia, based on the PBS program of the same name, which is available on video on the site. Provides questions and answers from experts, what nutrition the body needs, places to share stories, help, warning signs, and related resources, as well as a transcript and a guide for teachers.

4 Girls Health - This site for adolescent girls offers basic information about puberty, fitness, mental health, nutrition, healthy relationships, safety, and substance abuse prevention. Ethnic/Cultural and Special Audience Food Guide Pyramids - Here are several cultural (Arabic, Chinese, Italian, Latin American, and several other ethnic diets) and special needs (pre-school, 70+ years, vegetarian) modifications of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food Guide Pyramid. The Food Guide Pyramid button on the left menu leads to more nutrition information and graphics.

Nutrition.gov - This federal resource is a guide offering easy access to all government Web sites with reliable and accurate information on nutrition and dietary guidance. It provides information on prevention of food-related diseases (diabetes, cancer, heart disease, obesity, etc.), the food pyramid, food labels, health management, recipes, and other topics.

The Nutrition Source: Knowledge for Healthy Eating - This searchable site provides "timely information on diet and nutrition for clinicians, allied health professionals, and the public." It offers tips for healthy eating, gives information on the various components of diet (fats, carbohydrates, fruit, protein, etc.), and discusses how to interpret media coverage of diet and nutrition news. Triathlete - Triathlon news, event information, tips on training and nutrition, classified ads, Olympic competition, and links to clubs, equipment suppliers, and other resources are included in this online version of the print magazine.

The World's Healthiest Foods List, A-Z - Profiles of several dozen foods selected on the basis of their nutrient density ("a measure of the amount of nutrients a food contains in comparison to the number of calories") and being whole, familiar, readily available, affordable, and good-tasting. Detailed nutritional information is provided for each food. Browsable by category (such as vegetables and grains).
