About Me

Hello there, here's a little bit about me...

I married my husband, Quinten, in 1999. We have two children, Kyle and Sarah. I was born in Anderson, but have lived the majority of my life in Redding. As a young girl, I went to Meadow Lane Elementary School, Mistletoe Elementary School, Lassen View Elementary School and Parsons Junior High School. I am a graduate of Enterprise High School. I received by AA from Shasta College and my BA from Simpson University.

I taught at Shasta Elementary with Patti Furnari and Jeff Rich from 1999-2004. While at Shasta Elementary I taught: 4th/5th Language Arts, 3rd Grade Science, 6th-8th Grade Language Arts and History, and my last year I taught part time in 1st grade. By 2004 we had two small children at home and I wanted nothing more than to have more time with them. I stopped teaching, but was able to become a substitute as our children grew older. I never really left the education field since education is where my heart is.

I was hired at Stellar in 2013 to teach Living History Docents and PE, and to be the testing coordinator. I still teach our Living History Docent Program and have added an Archery Elective to my job duties. My job title is Data Technician, which means that I oversee and manage our local testing for Kindergarten through 8th grade students and for our state CAASPP testing.

I love spending my free time with my family. Our son has graduated high school and our daughter is a sophomore. Our times together as a whole family are getting more sparse as our children grow; therefore, we try to take every advantage to spend time with them when possible. I love to read, go hunting with my husband, shooting my bow and dream of going back to visit my pal Mickey Mouse at Disneyland.

I always knew that I wanted to be a teacher, but there was a classmate of mine that I used to take notes for and he was my true inspiration. My friend has Cerebral Palsy and Epilepsy. Writing was a difficult task for him. I was honored to have all of the same classes with him during our 7th and 8th grade years and to help him take any needed notes. We went to high school together too, but by then he gained better control of his muscular system. We ended up walking the stage together at our high school graduation. My friend never gave up, was always happy and a friend to everyone. Everything about him just reassured me that I wanted to be with kids like him and help them to achieve their dreams. I never pursued my Special Education Credential, but his kind and gentle spirit has stayed with me and inspires me to encourage others to never give up no matter their circumstances.
