I am so excited to be your child’s art teacher this year! From time to time, I will share a newsletter to keep you updated on the exciting things happening in our art room. This first edition is a warm welcome to you and your child as well as an introduction to myself and our art program.
This is my 11th year as an art teacher at Gattis and I couldn’t be happier to continue this journey! I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Art Education from Louisiana Tech University and a Master’s in Educational Technology from Texas State University. I am certified in All-Level Art EC–12, EC–6 Generalist, and ESL.
Before becoming the full-time art teacher at Gattis, I taught across McKinney ISD and Dallas ISD at the elementary level and also split time between Gattis and Herrington. During my son’s elementary years, I worked as a substitute teacher in Round Rock ISD and Leander ISD, teaching across all grade levels and taking on multiple long-term art assignments.
I chose to be an art teacher because it combines my love for working with children and my love for art. I am passionate about helping students reach their fullest potential in the art room and I love seeing their excitement as they create.
I look forward to a wonderful year of creativity, exploration, and artistic growth with your children!
A Little Bit More About Me....
I have been married to my husband for 23 years. We have a 21 year-old son who is a student at ACC. We have two 3 year old beagles who are sisters.
Some favorite things I love to do are read, create art, spend time with my family and friends, and I love the beach and the mountains!
