Course Description

Dance Team Prep (or “Drill Prep”) is an intensive study of the principles, techniques, and vocabulary of dance team. The goal of Dance Team Prep is to introduce and teach the rules, style and procedures specific to the SunDancers. Students will learn how to perform technical movements, develop kinesthetic awareness and execute level appropriate combinations that pertain specifically to SunDancer auditions.

This course will focus on the development of technical skills, spatial awareness, physical dynamics, and performance quality specific to SunDancers. The dancer will become acquainted with dance team etiquette, rules, and expectations. In order to achieve the goals of the course, the dancer must strive to conduct themselves in a respectful way both towards the instructor and the other dancers. Exemplary conduct is expected at all times. Self-discipline, confidence, dedication and humbleness are extremely necessary for all participants. Remember dance is a physical activity with physical risks and teacher may often use physical contact for corrections.
