What is dyslexia?
Dyslexia is a learning disability that is neurological in origin. A person with dyslexia has trouble making connections between the sounds of the letters and the way the letters look in print.

How will dyslexic students learn to read?
Students with dyslexia will learn to read using a multi-sensory approach based on the Orton-Gillingham method. I will use one of two Orton-Gillingham based programs. Basic Language Skills (BLS) and the Wilson Reading System (WRS) are both structured, sequential and explicit based curriculums.

Who are some famous people with dyslexia?
There are many famous people who have been diagnosed with dyslexia. Because dyslexic people tend to use the right side of their brain, which is the creative side, there are many actors and athletes included, just to name a few.
Famous athletes include Nolan Ryan, Magic Johnson, Bruce Jenner, and Muhammad Ali.
Other famous people include Tom Cruise, Walt Disney, George Washington, and Thomas Edison.
How can I help at home?
There are many things you can do at home to help your child. The following list is just a few ideas.
-Read to your child as often as possible.
-Play rhyming games.
-Play word games.
-Sound out letters.
-Sing songs that emphasize rhyme and alliteration.
-Play spelling games.
