Art Department Discipline Management 2018-19

    • Observe all rules as outlined in the RRISD discipline handbook.
    • Observe classroom rules as explained by each Art teacher.

Student Expectations

    • Be respectful of your peers and your teacher. This includes personal property, artwork and personal space.
    • Students are expected to take responsibility for beginning of class procedures. This includes reading the board for specific instructions.
    • Follow the dress code at all times.
    • Students will be engaged in the assigned project until the teacher announces clean-up.
    • Students will be responsible for cleaning their work area and storing their artwork.
    • Students will not listen to personal music devices at the beginning of class or when there are group discussions
    • Students may listen to personal music devices with teacher approval, only if when they are actively making progress on their current assignments.

Reasons for Discipline Referrals

    • If a student is consistently absent or tardy I will phone the students home. Consecutive absences or tardies may result in a written discipline referral and possible legal action.
    • Leaving class without teacher permission,.
    • Destruction of school property
    • Inappropriate language or swearing
    • No texting during class time. Put your phone out of sight when asked to do so. If you have an emergency please ask permission.


Lab Fee

All ceramics students will pay a $30. lab fee. There is no fee if a student receives free or reduced lunch.

The Art department wants all students to have a positive learning experience in Art. All Art lessons are designed to be aligned to the TEKS, Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills and the RRISD ARRC.

Written assignments and quizzes may be incorporated into the curriculum but are not intended to replace the Art Projects.

Students are given class time to complete art projects therefore homework is not typically assigned. Students are expected to complete most projects during their class time.
