About the Librarian

About the Librarian: I am a lover of great adventures and good stories. A California native, I earned my bachelor’s degree in Journalism at San Diego State University, and served as a public affairs officer in the U.S. Marine Corps nearly 22 years. While in the Marine Corps I traveled around the globe and even lived in Japan for three years. After retiring from the Marine Corps in 2003, I earned a multiple-subject teaching credential from California State University, San Marcos. My family then relocated to Round Rock, Texas. Before earning my Masters in Library Science from the University of North Texas and becoming a librarian I taught journalism (newspaper and yearbook) at the Ninth Grade Campus (now Eastview High School) in Georgetown, Texas. I have been a librarian in Round Rock for eight years --six at Linda Herrington Elementary. It was exciting to open Herrington's library seven years ago. Last summer I traveled to Costa Rica with my youngest son's Spanish class and I hope this experience will help with our lessons on Costa Rica this upcoming year. I also attended a course for teachers on the Westward expansion at University of Colorado at Boulder and a week-long teacher institute at Colonial Williamsburg. I am excited to share all I learn through my summer adventures. My certifications include EC-4, 4-8, Special Education, Journalism 6 -12 and School Librarian. My husband and I have three boys and two hybrid dogs (golden retriever/labrador). In my spare time I enjoy running, reading, quilting, knitting and gardening.
