WORLD HISTORY

2023-2024 Course Syllabus

COURSE OVERVIEW:  This course is a survey of human history from the earliest times to the present, with an emphasis on the study of significant  people, events, and issues in World History.  Content is focused on coverage of the World History Studies TEKS and skills required for STAAR  and post-secondary success.

 

STUDENT EXPECTATIONS:  1) Be RESPONSIBLE

                                     2) Be RESPECTFUL

                                     3) Be PREPARED

                                     4) Follow instructions (the FIRST time…)

                               5) Follow the MHS STUDENT HANDBOOK

 

MATERIALS NEEDED:  1) HMH World History Textbook (Online or hard copy)

                              2) Three-Ring Notebook (for handouts, assignments) / Paper

                              3) SPIRAL NOTEBOOK (must have every day, will stay in the classroom)

                             4) Pen/pencil

                             5) Highlighter

                                         

 

GRADING:  *ALL MHS ACADEMIC GUIDELINES apply in this class:

                      *Marking Period GRADE is based on:

                               Daily work (in-class assignments, homework, quizzes) = 60%

                               Major work (tests, projects, papers, etc.) = 40%.

                      **LATE  WORK:  MHS Late Work Policy will be followed

                      **REDO/RETEST:  MHS Retesting Policy will be followed

                    

MAKE-UP WORK:  Students are responsible for all make-up due to any absences. MHS

                  RRISD Student-Parent Handbook make-up work policies apply.

 

TUTORIALS:  By appointment, 8:15am-8:55am (Coach Hoover is not on campus after school).

                                FLEX time (must pre-register).
