Chisholm Trail Middle School Honor Band
The Chisholm Trail Honor Band is the top performing ensemble in the CTMS Band. It is comprised of mostly 8th graders and some 7th graders with placement based on teacher recommendation. Technically challenging music of the highest quality will be explored in the ensemble. Honor Band Students are expected to audition for District Band and perform a solo at Solo and Ensemble contest. The Honor Band has previously been selected as a performer at the Western International Band Clinic in 2010, a National Winner for the Mark of Excellence in 2014, and as a performer for the Music for All Festival in 2016.
Sectionals are a once a week time when we work with just a small portion of the band. They are a required part of being in the Honor Band and a grade. The schedule will remain the same through November. In November, some sections will combine as we change our focus from District Band Music to Concert Music. Concerning conflicts with athletics, we work closely with the CTMS coaches to ensure that students can participate in sectionals, practices, tryouts, concerts and games.
