Educator Background

I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 2003 with an Honors B.A. in English and a minor in education. I am a UTeach Liberal Arts alumnus, and continue to support the program by hosting interns and student teachers. I taught in Austin ISD upon graduating, then moved to Spring Branch ISD (in Houston) for a year, but have been at McNeil High School in Round Rock ISD for the past nineteen years. I was the 2014 Rock Rock ISD Secondary Teacher of the Year, and look forward to bringing enthusiasm to my students.

Currently, I am the English Department Chair, and teach English III AP Language and Composition, ELDA 2, and  AP Seminar. Creativity and critical thinking are some of the most important skills I teach, and am a believer that learning should be challenging, engaging, and full of joy.

I am happily married and have two children, both attending McNeil. I am a huge board game enthusiast,  play adult co-ed competitive volleyball, and enjoy reading and coffee. I love McNeil High School fiercely, and I am looking forward to fantastic year.
