Period 3, Monday - Thursday

Scope and Sequence:

    • Integer Exponents and Scientific Notation
    • The Concept of Congruence
    • Similarity
    • Linear Equations
    • Examples of Functions from Geometry
    • Linear Functions
    • Introduction to Irrational Numbers Using Geometry

Resources:

    • We will be working from Eureka Math, Singapore Math, and a variety of additional sources to support the scope and sequence.
    • Study materials and links will be available from the Math 8 website under my page on Rossbears.org

Unit/Lesson - specific materials will also be posted under the Math 8 page in Google Classroom.

Grading:

Content Grades will be based on the learner's achievement on the most recent assessment.

Work Habits will be graded using the following components:

Class Readiness/Participation/Comportment 20%

Problem Sets(homework)/Exercises/Test corrections 30%

Exit Tickets/Quizzes 30%

Projects 20%

Tutorials: Students may arrange to meet with me before school (8:00 am); at Middle School Lunch (by arrangement only - I frequently have elementary school classes at that time), or after school (except on Wednesdays). Students may request tutorials via email or face to face - I will reply to emails as promptly as possible.

Policies:

    • Unit and Mid-unit assessments will generally be given on Wednesdays. We will review for each assessment during the preceding class(es), and review materials will be given to students for each assessment.
    • Assessments may be re-taken for full credit.
    • Homework is checked for completeness and effort, and contributes to the work habits grade.
