Third and fourth grade were introduced to The Princess Academy by Shannon Hale. Miri, the book's main character, is a mountain girl from the remote village of Mount Eskel where not much has changed for generations. Until a messenger from the king announces that all of Mount Eskel's girls must attend an academy to learn the ins and outs of being a princess...which begins with learning to read. This story has humor, drama, mystery, a royal ball, and even an attack by bandits! We read the first few chapters at school, and the students are free to check out the book to find out what happens to Miri and all of Mount Eskel's girls.

Students built some amazing creations while listening to The Princess Academy.

The Library is open from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, according to the school calendar.
