Judicial Impact Assessment
This is a project undertaken for the Supreme Court of India. The issues facing the Indian judicial system were: 1. There is no assessment of the resource costs associated with a new legislation, and 2. There is an inordinate delay in processing cases by the judicial system thereby implying justice delayed and justice denied. The Supreme Court of India had implemented digital recording of case monitoring along with case records. The project involved data and text mining of that digital record system to determine: 1. the factors that cause the delays and 2. to estimate the resource costs associated with different types of cases.
