Class Materials

· Every day, you must bring the following to class:

o Binder

o Notes

o Pencil/Pen

o Calculator

· Lack of having these four items will result in the deduction of participation/notes points.

Grade Breakdown

· 20% Tests

o Tests will be conducted at the end of each unit. A review sheet will be given, and tests will be similar in nature to the homework and activities that have been discussed in class. Information will also be taken from notes and the textbook.

o You must have a calculator on test day, or you will lose 5% on your test.

· 20% Semester Final

o The semester final will be similar in nature to tests you have taken throughout the semester.

· 20% Projects

· 20% Notes

o You will turn in your unit packet on Test Day, which will be graded for completion and participation.

· 20% Homework

    • Homework will either be turned in on Canvas or in the turn-in bin.
    • You will get a schedule for the unit at the beginning and it will also list your assignments, their due dates, and where you will turn them in.
    • Homework is due by the class period assigned, whether that is on Canvas or handing into the box. You will clearly see the date written on the assignment board or attached to the assignment on Canvas.

o If you did not complete your Canvas homework on time, you can use a Late Pass for 50% of the assignment.

o When the Unit closes on Canvas (Test Day), you will no longer be able to complete your homework.

·

Absence Policy

  • If you are absent on a regular class day, you are still required to turn in any homework assignments that were due on that day. With homework being turned in online, there should be no excuses for not having it turned in. Anything that was assigned the day you were absent will be given 2 full school days to complete (unless the assignment has a due date further out than these 2 school days.) For example: You are absent on a Tuesday. You return to school on Wednesday. Anything that was assigned on Tuesday will be paper clipped together with your name on it in the absent folder, and will be due on Friday during class.
  • If you know about your absence in advance, it is your responsibility to let me know so that I can get you the assignments in advance.
  • You are responsible for getting the notes that you missed on the day of your absence. Check with a classmate to get those notes, or the notes may be posted on Canvas.
  • If you are absent on a review day, you will still be required to take the test when you return.

· If you are absent on a test day, you will be required to take the test on the day you return, however, it will be a different version of the test than was given on the original test day.

Classroom Conduct and Culture

· I have four basic rules:

o Treat everyone as a valued, redeemed child of God. Respect is not determined by you it has already been granted through Christ’s sacrifice.

o Never hinder the educational process by disrupting class or distracting other students.

o Respect and care for your property, your classmates and the school’s.

o No food or drinks are allowed in the classroom.

§ Should you choose to violate any of these rules, your name will go on the board as a warning. A check mark will signal a school detention.

· Cell Phones are not allowed in my classroom. Period.

§ Should you decide to break this rule, I will confiscate your phone and you can figure out the consequences with the office at the end of the day.

· Cheating, plagiarism and the use of electronic devices during a quiz or test will result in a zero for the grade, a detention and contact with your parent.

Dress Code and Tardiness

· You must enter my classroom in dress code. See the handout on my wall if you have questions.

· You have three tardies to first hour. The fourth will be a detention.

· You have eight total tardies between second and eighth hour. The ninth will be a detention.

Extra Help

  • Smart people ask for help!
  • I will be available for help before school (7:00 a.m.-7:45 a.m.), during lunch (talk to me in advance so I know to be in my room), and after school until 4:00 p.m (October through February).
  • If you let me know you need help, I will find time to answer your questions. Please don’t hesitate to ask any questions that you may have. It is my goal to teach you as effectively as possible and to offer as much support as you may need.
  • If you are working on something during the evening or weekend and need some assistance, message me on Canvas. I check my email/Canvas pretty often and there is a strong chance I will answer (but I can’t make any promises or guarantee it 100%).

Mrs. Sievert’s Code of Conduct

Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another. Proverbs 27:17

As students at Rockford Lutheran, we take pride in our education, knowing that our teachers care about teaching us and preparing us for the next stage of our lives. That being said, we hold ourselves to a higher standard.

  1. I understand that my cell phone is not to be in Mrs. Sievert’s classroom from the times of 7:45 a.m. to 3:05 p.m. unless she has explicitly told me it is needed for an academic purpose.
  2. I understand that if I choose to be dishonest in the completion of my homework, there will be a consequence. This includes, but is not limited to:
    1. If I copy someone else’s work (someone being another classmate, author, online website, etc), I am cheating and not being honest.
    2. If I turn in someone else’s homework, whether online or in person, I am cheating and not being honest.
    3. If I give someone else my homework, and they end up turning it in or using it for their own homework, I am cheating and not being honest.
  3. I understand that if I break anything in Mrs. Sievert’s classroom, whether it belongs to Mrs. Sievert, the school, or another student, I am responsible for replacing the broken item.
  4. I understand that I am not allowed to have food or drink (besides water) in Mrs. Sievert’s classroom from 7:45-3:05.
  5. I understand that every choice I make has a consequence, and these can be good or bad. I accept full responsibility for every choice I make.
  6. I understand that if I need help or I find something is difficult, Mrs. Sievert is willing to help.

Classroom Technology Contract

In order to protect all students and classroom technology, you will need to follow some important rules and procedures. The choice of a student to violate these requirements will result in that student not being allowed to use any technology for the rest of the school year.

1. NO food/drinks should be near our classroom technology at any time.

2. You are only allowed to use the computer that you have been assigned. If there is some emergency reason you need to use another one, please ask Mrs. Sievert before grabbing it.

3. All technology in our classroom should be treated with RESPECT. Students use them gently and for educational purposes only! You are one of 5-6 other people using that computer. If I notice something has happened with it (keys missing, screen not working, etc) I will be coming to you first. If you are responsible for the issue, you will be responsible for paying for it to be fixed, or replacing the laptop, which could be up to a $400 fine. Key Word: Treat it responsibly.

4. Students must NOT change the “settings” on any of the laptops.

5. Students must respect the files of others by refraining from using, altering, reading, or deleting another student’s files. If a file is left open on a computer, the students should alert the teacher or creator of the file, or save and close the file.

6. Students must ONLY use websites or programs in which the teacher has instructed them to use. Students are NOT to check personal email or browse the internet freely for personal entertainment purposes.

7. All technology should be properly turned off and returned to its numbered location prior to class dismissal. You will not be allowed to leave the classroom until your computer is put back in its CORRECT location.
