Meet Mrs. Hawkins

This is my 28th year in education.  I taught 5th grade at Bethany Elementary for 9 years and I was an AIG specialist in RCS for the next 9 years.  I have been the Instructional Coach at Wentworth since 2016.  My husband Ben and I have been married for 25 years and have two daughters, Sydney (23) and Riley (20). We also have two dogs, Hallie and Finley. My favorite things are reading, travelling, anything Disney, Topsail Island, and NC State. Go PACK! 

Mrs. Hawkins' Philosophy:   As the Instructional Coach, my focus is on enhancing the education of gifted students by incorporating the North Carolina curriculum standards with enrichment strategies to expand & extend the curriculum.  I collaborate with teachers to ensure that instruction in the regular classroom is differentiated to meet the academic needs of all children.  My goal is to encourage gifted students to autonomously challenge themselves to think critically & creatively, accept new challenges, explore their interests, find their individual strengths, and set goals for the future.
