Who is the School Counselor?

I am Ms. Green School Counselor for Western Rockingham Middle School.  I believe in the “Team” approach in which the family and school work together to help each student get the most from a wonderful 21st century education.

What does the  School Counselor do?

As a WRMS School Counselor, I will conduct classroom lessons on social emotional learning, career education, bully prevention, internet safety, character education and decision making skills.  Along with those lessons I also teach study, organization and test taking skills, stress management, peer pressure and many other peer relationship issues.

Where is the School Counselor located?

Ms. Green is located in the 6th grade building

When is the School Counselor available?

The school counselor is available for students during school hours and immediately before and after school.  For parents, in an effort to accommodate busy work schedules, I am willing to make after-hours appointments that fit within both of our schedules. I am available for students, teachers and parents to discuss academic progress, personal/social problems, career options and other areas of concern.  Each situation will be handled with confidentially on an individual basis.

Why should I see a School Counselor?

Whenever you are having a difficult day students are welcome to come and talk with me any time I am in my office.  Students may also  leave a note in the mailbox outside my door, or they may ask their teacher to write or e-mail a note to me.

Parents may also call (336-548-2168 ext.57265) or email me at (kgreen@rock.k12.nc.us) to make an appointment for themselves or for their child.
