Introductory Speech
Step 1: Please complete a short personality style assessment at the following website: http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/JTypes1.htm. From this web page, select the “Do it” button under the “Jung Typology Test” section to complete the personality type assessment. When you have completed the assessment, it will provide you with a four-letter personality type, as well as a few references that provide a brief profile description of that type.
Step 2: Review more information about your 4-letter personality type at the following resource:
Type Descriptions: http://www.personalitypage.com/portraits.html
Step 3: Reflect
Explain to what extent the results of the personality type assessments accurately describe your characteristics.
What are the most typical communication challenges that you encounter based on your personality type?
Step 4: Limit & narrow
Choose 3 interesting characteristics that you can elaborate upon with anecdotes. In other words, if your personality test revealed that you "like to give back to others," share some personal examples from your life that support that notion.
Develop your three body points around the three characteristics you chose, write an appropriate introduction and conclusion, and your speech will be ready to go.
Step 5: Prepare
Create an outline, and then reduce the outline to a notecard
Put together your visuals. You need 4 slides (title slide, and one slide for each of your main points. Focus on VISUALS).
Practice! Rehearse your speech by yourself, out loud, and then remember to have three people also watch and critique your speech.
