Biografía

I began learning Spanish at age 14 when I was in high school. I spent the summer before my senior year as an exchange student in Costa Rica (¡Pura vida!) and by the time I returned home, I knew that I wanted to be a high school Spanish teacher. 

I attended Western Oregon University, where I obtained both my bachelor's and master's degrees, and I began my teaching career in 1992, just before my 22nd birthday. I taught Spanish in Oregon at Santiam High School, Sandy High School, and Mt. Hood Community College. In 2009 I joined the teaching staff at Ridgefield High School. The 2026-27 school year is my 35th year of teaching Spanish, and my 18th year at RHS.

I love the Spanish language and the cultures of the various Spanish-speaking countries. Other things I love are spending time with my family, going on walks with my Australian shepherd Sully, baking, and traveling!
