Language Arts...
We will study -at and -an word families this week. Centers will take place in the AM (LA paper/pencil activities, math review games, and enrichment tasks). Leveled books will be used in Mrs. Carpenter's center....phonics, context clues, fluency, and comprehension tasks will be completed.
*Whole group instruction will take place after to lunch to continue LA instruction...comprehension, inventive spellings, and sentence writing tasks will be completed.
We will concentrate of building the foundation for addition. The addition symbol and equal sign will be used to build addition sentences. Manipulatives will used to formed addition problems. Paper/pencil will be used to note the problem on paper. "First grade" math boxes will be used as enrichment.
Counting by 1s, 5s, and 10s occur daily at calendar time. Counting backwards from 40, tally mark practice, and shape review happen also.
Things for your child to do at home...
*Count to 75.
*Count back from 30.
*Collect ten objects. Form into two sets. Write the addition equation, 2+8=10
*Write CVC words for all short vowels...bat, den, pig, mop, bus
*Draw pictures to show -at and -an words, Spell the words.
*Write a sentence containing one of those -at and -an words. Don't forget to start the sentence with a capital letter and end with punctuation, Use finger spaces between words.
*After listening to a story, tell how something your life connects with something in the story.
100th Day, Groundhog's Day, and Valentine's Day (Oh those snow days!!)
On Monday, the children will visit with each Kdgn. teacher to complete a 100th day activity,
We also will conclude the Groundhog's Day project we started last week.
During stations, we will share a Valentine story and complete a craft.
