The 63rd Annual RGV Regional Fair will be held February 12th hosted by the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Brownsville Campus

If you have individual students or teams that plan to compete, please advance those projects in Scienteer to the Rio Grande Valley Regional Science & Engineering Fair no later than (TBD). Projects that can be advanced sooner will be reviewed sooner.

The registration fee is $25 per project, and the event agenda was sent to all sponsors who have teams submitted to the event through Scienteer. Invoices will be sent to schools/districts participating.

* The Regional Scientific Review Committee (SRC) will then review and approve projects for competition.

* If your district did not have or is not having a district fair this year, you may advance the students directly from a campus level or district level to the regional competition. If that is the case, please contact Tim Sears, tim.sears@utrgv.edu before you finalize your winners.

The competition logistics will be similar to last year’s competition:

* The student competitors will create a virtual project board (a PDF file) this year, and that template is available in Scienteer.

* Judges will conduct interviews of student competitors on Saturday, February TBD. Students will have anywhere from two to five judges who may interview students individually or as a group. Top Senior Division (high school) winners will be eligible for Grand Champion awards as in years past.

* Our regional competition will be using the 21 categories that the state and international competitions will be using, and those are available in Scienteer for students who advance to select. The categories may not match the categories you used at your campus or district fair, and students will simply select the most appropriate category and confirm that category once their projects are advanced in Scienteer. Students in each category are eligible for category awards and special awards as in the past.

* 1st-2nd place winners from each category in both the Junior Division (middle school) and Senior Division (high school) will be eligible to advance to the Texas Science & Engineering Fair<https://txsef.tamu.edu/> (state-level competition), which is planned as an in-person competition for this year. The Texas Science and Engineering Fair will be held March 24-25, 2023 in College Station, Texas on the Texas A&M University campus.

* The top Senior Division (high school projects) from our regional competition will be eligible to advance to the 2023 Regeneron International Science & Engineering Fair (ISEF)<https://www.societyforscience.org/isef/> May 13-19, 2023 which will be held in person in Dallas, Texas.
