SeniorAdvisor.comFuture of Assisted Living Scholarship. Three $2,000 scholarships available to students enrolled in an associate's degree, bachelor's degree or graduate level program at an accredited 2-year college or 4-year university. Each eligible student must submit a 500-750 word essay response to the question: How can your major of study improve the lives of seniors in assisted living facilities in your town? Deadline is December 31, 2017. Scholarship award recipients will be announced January 31, 2018.

STEM Scholarship Opportunity _

I am sending this email with an exciting scholarship opportunity to share with you and the students with whom you work. With help from a generous grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF), we are offering a STEM scholarship program for students interested in STEM fields (Biology, Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics, and Physics). STEM Scholars will have their full demonstrated financial need met for all four years with no loans, and have the opportunity to:

  • Attend a STEM-focused pre-orientation workshop with other STEM Scholars.
  • Enroll in an exclusive First-Year Seminar taught by STEM faculty.
  • Participate in bi-monthly luncheons with STEM faculty and a variety of learning activities on and off campus.

The Lee L. Powers Merit Scholarship is designed to recognize outstanding academic achievement to seniors in high school providing them with full tuition, fees and books to attend Isothermal Community College.  In addition, students may apply for federal aid, and if eligible, may receive additional funds. To apply for a scholarship, a student will need to click on the scholarship link in the scholarship directory (link above) and review the application procedure where they will find the link to the actual online applicationWe have moved all of our applications to Smarter Select. This software is very user friendly and has made the applications process better for our students.  

 Every scholarship program listed in the online directory has a unique link to each application. Once students have created an account, and want to login to complete saved applications then they can login directly following the ‘Online Scholarships link at the bottom right of our website(; however a student will need to use the link on each scholarship program webpage to apply for that particular scholarship first, which will take them to the online application where they should click "Apply" with each new application. If there are any issues please contact me at the email or number below and we can figure it out together.

Journey Scholarship - All seniors should check their email for an electronic application for this scholarship - sent by Mrs. Humphries. Students must have an unweighted GPA of 3.0 to apply.  Deadline - Thursday, March 22, 2018.

North Carolina Extension & Community Association, Inc. Scholarships: $800.00 Eligibility requirements: Applicants must be residents of NC and planning to attend at NC accredited college, community college or technical institute in the Fall 2018. All majors are eligible to apply, however priority will be placed on majors in family and consumer sciences and related areas of study. Special consideration will be given to those people directly involved with the Extension & Community Association, 4-H or other NC Cooperative Extension program. Application deadline: February 1st .  Please see Mrs. Humphries in guidance for an application. There is also a Rutherford County Extension and Community Association Scholarship application - Due Date April 1st. Please see Mrs. Humphries for an application.

The North Carolina Child Support Council Bob McGuire Scholarship Application is for seniors who will enter a North Carolina school of higher learning in the fall of 2018.  The North Carolina Child Support Council will award 3 $1,000.00 scholarships ($500 per semester) to 3 seniors in the state of North Carolina.  All applications must be postmarked by April 20, 2018.

Another $2,500 Scholarship Announced
Due to the overwhelming response to the first scholarship of College Raptor’s $2,500 Scholarship Program, we couldn’t stop there. We are excited to announce another $2,500 award to help students fund their education. Nursing Schools Almanac has just launched its third annual Aspiring Nurse Scholarship. Our website will award a $1,000 scholarship to an aspiring nurse who best demonstrates:

+ A track record of academic excellence, particularly in science and mathematics
+ A passion for the nursing profession and the overall field of healthcare 

This scholarship is open to all high school seniors who plan to pursue college education in nursing, including LPN / LVN, ADN, and BSN programs. Scholarship applications will be accepted until midnight on TBD.

2018 African American Network-Carolinas Scholarship Fund. Applications available at - Applications should be submitted online by TBD. The AANC-C Scholarship Committee will consider academics and financial need of each applicant after assuring they meet the minimum eligibility: Graduating Senior at a North or South Carolina High School, Must attend a four-year college or university located in North or South Carolina and Must plan to major in engineering, math, science, computer science, accounting, finance, or business administration.

Golden LEAF Scholarship Program - Eligibility Requirements: Be a NC resident, Enroll in a qualifying UNC institution, or a NC private non-profit college or university in Fall 2017, Demonstrate Financial Need, Apply for FAFSA by TBD, and present satisfactory record of academic achievement and community service. NC District Pilot Scholarship International Scholarship Application

Requirements/Eligibility: Be a NC Resident, Acceptance to a NC College or University, Preferences given to students who are interested in careers what will positively impact brain illness or brain disease awareness, Information regarding financial need is required, Information regarding GPA is required. Please see Mrs. Humphries in guidance for an application. State Employee's Credit Union Scholarship  --Eligibility requirements: Acceptance letter to one of the 16 constituent campuses of the University of North Carolina, 2.5 GPA, demonstrated scholastic achievement, leadership, excellence of character, parents or student has an account with SECU, integrity and community involvement. CTE Scholarship: Children of Marines and Navy Corpsmen:

The Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation’s scholarships are for children of Marines and Navy Corpsmen pursuing a post-secondary education at any accredited school—whether that be a career training, trade school, community college, or four-year university. They are a financial need scholarship and award scholarships to every eligible applicant. Since 1962, the Scholarship Foundation has provided more than 37,000 need-based scholarships, valued at nearly $100,000,000.

The scholarship application is open year-round for students pursuing career and technical education programs less than 12 months in length. Students can apply at  For programs longer than 12 months, our application is open from January 1 to March 1 each year.

The North Carolina Society of Accountants Scholarship Foundation

Eligibility requirements: Must enroll in an accounting degree program with six or more credit hours per semester, must show firm intention to continue into the field of Accounting, must enroll in an accredited school of higher education in NC, must be a resident of NC. Penny P. Davis 2018 Memorial Scholarship

Application requirements:

*NC Resident
*Be accepted to a NC College or University
*Provide information regarding financial need
*Because uplifting individuals and families whose lives are affected by brain related disorders is a focus for Pilot Club preference will be given to an applicant whose career goals include work in this area.

NCACTE Guidance and Career Development Division Scholarship

The purpose of the NCACTE Guidance and Career Development Division Scholarship is to assist the recipient during his/her higher education by subsidizing the cost of attending a community college or university. The scholarship is available on a competitive basis to graduating high school students who have taken Career and Technical Education courses and achieved the status of a CTE completer. Award amount: $1,000 nonrenewable Six (6) scholarships to be awarded (one per region in North Carolina)

- Applicant must be a high school senior with a CTE concentration (completer status).
- Applicant must be enrolled or accepted into an accredited four-year college/university, community college, or technical school for Fall 2017 with a CTE related major.
- Applicant must have a minimum high school grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

Selection Criteria:
A review committee will select the scholarship recipient using the following criteria.
- Academic achievement in both core academic and CTE courses
- Demonstrated desire to pursue a career in one of the 16 Career Clusters acknowledged in NC (visit for more information about Career Clusters)
- Letters of recommendation that demonstrate the student's character
- Personal statement that communicates the student's academic, career, and personal goals
- Statement of how scholarship will benefit student

Ellenboro Woman's Club Scholarship

Applicants may be male or female - but must live in the Colfax Township.  Students may determine if they are in the Colfax Township by asking parents where they vote - as most will vote at the Ellenboro Fire Dept.  The Colfax boundaries may also be determined by typing Colfax District boundaries, Rutherford County, NC into a search engine.  Applicants must also be conscientious and goal-oriented have maintained at least a 2.0 GPA. Please see Mrs. Humphries in guidance for an application. All applications are due to Mrs. Humphries by April 25, 2018.

McDonald's Future History Makers Scholarship - ($5000)
This scholarship is being awarded to students who are making an impact through their academic achievements and community involvement. Students must meet the following criteria:
* Must be attending an accredited two or four-year institution of higher education full-time in the Fall of 2018
* Must be a legal U.S. resident less than 21 years of age
* Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
* Must be available to attend the awards luncheon the first week of May, 2018 in Greenville, SC

The Wanda Berry Memorial Scholarship will honor one student athlete or athletic team manager who demonstrates the qualities that Mrs. Berry embodied. The recipient of the scholarship will receive $1,000.00. Applicants must meet the following requirements:

*Minimum of 25 hours of community service (cannot include time spent as team          manager)
*3 letters of recommendation from the following: a coach, a faculty member and a    community member)
*Maintain a 2.5 GPA
*Complete a scholarship application by April 20, 2018.
 Eligible seniors may pick up an application from Mrs. Humphries in the guidance office. All completed applications are due to Mrs. Humphries by April 20, 2018.

1. Must be a resident of North Carolina. 
2. Grade point average must be 3.0 or better. 
3. Must major in some area of Criminal Justice or related field. 
4. Must supply copy of the Federal Student Aid Report. The student need criteria number will be considered. 
5. Scholarship check will be made payable to the institution in which the recipient will be attending.
 6. The number of siblings in the family will be considered and if any are currently attending college. 
7. Student must be active in the community, church and/or school activities. 
8. The student must have no felony convictions or convictions of serious misdemeanors. The student must also have no pending criminal matters. 
9. The student must not have exceeded 24 years of age by the application deadline. 
10. The most recent official high school and or college transcripts must accompany each application, complete with 4 references and SAT scores. 
11. One scholarship of $1000 dollars will be awarded to the top applicant and two (2) scholarships of $500 dollars each will be awarded to the top two additional applicants.

Rutherford County Cattlemen's Association Scholarship
Applicants must be Rutherford County residents.
Graduating seniors from any of the high schools in Rutherford County pursuing a B.S. or Associate degree in the field of Agriculture.
Priority will be given to applicants who are pursuing a degree in animal science with an emphasis in beef production.
Interested students may pick up an application from Mrs. Humphries in guidance office. Completed applications are due to Mrs. Humphries by April 12, 2017.

Lutz Foundation Scholarship Program

Eligibility Requirements: Students express concern for others and has a sincere desire to help his or her fellow man. Students must have demonstrated a potential to succeed in a four year college. Participation in extra-curricular activities will be considered as much as academic achievement. The student should demonstrate to the committee a clear understanding of the free enterprise system. Eligible students can pick up an application from Mrs. Humphries in Guidance. All completed applications are due to Mrs. Humphries by April 10, 2018.

Matthew Lail Memorial Scholarship

The Matthew Lail Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to one senior athlete this year for $1000. Seniors interested in applying for this scholarship need to meet the following requirements: 

 Have a GPA of 3.0 or above
 Have taken AP/Honors classes
 Have been involved in sports
 Have at least 25 community service hours and three recommendations from teachers 
 Have shown good character.
Interested seniors can see Mrs. Humphries for an electronic application. Completed application and recommendations are due to Mrs. Humphries by May 4, 2017.

Pilot Club - McKinney Jobe Award

A $500 Award has been established by the Pilot Club of Rutherford County to be presented to a graduating senior from Chase, East Rutherford or R-S Central High Schools, preparing for a career working with people affected by Brain Related Disorders or Disabilities.  

Applicants must have demonstrated good character, good citizenship, scholarship and an active interest in school and community activities.  Students can access the scholarship application at

The recipient will be announced at the respective high school on Awards Day.  Upon proper notification to the Pilot Club of Rutherford County, payment of this award will be made directly to the college where the recipient is enrolled.  

The Rutherford County Visual Artists Guild - Scholarship

The Rutherford County Visual Artists Guild will again offer a $1,000 scholarship to a graduating H.S. senior

who plans to major in art or art education at the college level. 

Note that applicants must live in Rutherford County and that the application deadline is April 28th. We look forward to seeing what your students are doing!

Khan Law Firm Scholarship

Khalil Khan and the other attorneys at the firm are proud to offer a generous $1,000.00 scholarship to a student of their choosing. To qualify for this scholarship:
  1. You must currently be enrolled in or have been accepted to (and planning to attend) a college or university in the United States.
  2. You must be able to provide proof of current enrollment. If you have not received acceptance, you may still apply, but be sure to provide proof of acceptance and enrollment for the scholarship to be released. (ex. screenshot of grades, picture of acceptance letter, etc.)
  3. You must have a minimum G.P.A. of 3.0.
  4. Write an essay explaining your plans for your education.

Charles Toms Scholarship

$500 Scholarship awarded to a Senior at ERHS who attended Sunshine Elementary School. Please see Mr. Phillip Murray in the main office for an application.

Max Hampton Scholarship

The Webb First Baptist Church Max Hampton Scholarship Fund will honor one student who demonstrates the qualities of working hard and striving for success. The recipient of the scholarship will receive $250.00. Applicants must  meet the following requirements:

Minimum 25 hours of community service
3 Letters of recommendation from the following:  a faculty member, their mentor, and       a community member
Maintain a 2.5 GPA
Proof of acceptance to college: state, private or community

King Law is a general practice law firm with 12 office locations across Western North Carolina and Upstate South Carolina.  This year we are excited to announce that our firm will once again be offering college scholarships to graduating seniors.  Four students will be selected and each recipient will receive a $500 scholarship.


King Law Gives Back is a scholarship program started in 2017.  Any graduating senior with plans to enroll in college and who resides and attends school in a county where one of our offices is located is eligible to apply.  An essay is required as part of the application process.

Matthew Zeke Blanton Memorial Scholarship

Any senior interested in applying for the Matthew Zeke Blanton Memorial Scholarship needs to see Mrs. Humphries in guidance for an application.

Seniors must be a ROPE Award Recipient and plan to attend a two or four year college after graduation. Preference will be given to a member of the East Rutherford High School Varsity baseball team. Completed applications are due to Mrs. Humphries by April 27, 2018.

The James L. Davis STEM Scholarship of $500 will be awarded to students who are entering any STEM program at a four-year college/university. One scholarship will be awarded to a graduate of each of the following schools:

Chase High School
East Rutherford High School
R-S Central High School 
Students who are interested in applying for this scholarship must meet the following requirements:
Be accepted to a STEM program at a four-year university
  Proof of admission and schedule required before funds are distributed.
Have a minimum 3.0 unweighted GPA
Provide 2 letters of recommendation
