Research

My research explores the place of the emotions in our theories of value, particularly as applied to the way that we value the nonhuman natural world.  I have written on topics such as ecosystem health, anthropocentrism, intrinsic value, individualism and holism, narrative theories of value, economic conceptions of value, and the significance of particular emotions such as love, grief, awe, and respect in our thinking about the natural world.
