South Elementary

                                                       South Elementary artists will be exploring art through the magic of Disney!

Throughout the year, students will create works of art that relate to various Disney eras including - Classic, Renaissance, Revival, Pixar, and Marvel!

We will explore a wide range of Disney movies to connect to the curriculum through  many different mediums. 

These will include - painting, drawing, chalk pastels, printmaking, clay sculptures and much more!

Recently, we have been working on a school wide art project to create a Mickey themed mural entitled, “Many ears, ONE family!”  Students have been designing their own set of unique Mickey ears with patterns, design and colors. Be sure to check it out in our South Elementary Art Gallery!

                                                Every student in 1st through 5th grade will create a handmade sketchbook.                                                    Students will explore various paper making techniques to create their sketchbook cover. 

Sketchbook styles for each grade level include:

                         (1) Marble Paper   (2) Rolling Print Paper   (3) Bubble  Print Paper 

 (4) Paste Paper   (5) Drips & Splatter Paper

There will be opportunities for students to plan and sketch ideas before creating artwork. Students are also encouraged to explore their interest in art by drawing independently when they have finished their artwork in the classroom.
