South Elementary Zoom Room: South Art Zoom
The Perkiomen Valley Art Department provides an engaging K-12 curriculum of the highest quality for all diverse learners. We introduce our early artists to expansive practices that develop their problem solving and creative skills while being innovative and original. The field includes traditional drawing, painting, printmaking, and sculpture, as well as modern technologies in digital media arts. We empower them to transfer their knowledge as they grow intellectually, socially and emotionally. Advanced students are guided to improve their skills, expand their creative vision, exercise their personal voice, and contribute to society as visual artists and reflective thinkers.
South Elementary artist’s will go Back to The 80's!
South Elementary artists are trekking back to the 1980’s for a Retro Art Theme!
Throughout the year, students will create works of art that relate back to 1980!
Students will explore 80’s pop culture, famous artists, art movements, music and much more!
Recently, we have been working on a school wide art project to create an 80’s Retro Music Showcase.

Every student in 1st through 5th grade will create a handmade sketchbook. Students will explore various paper making techniques to create their sketchbook cover.
Sketchbook styles for each grade level include:
(1) Marble Paper (2) Rolling Print Paper (3) Bubble Print Paper
(4) Paste Paper (5) Drips & Splatter Paper
There will be opportunities for students to plan and sketch ideas before creating artwork. Students are also encouraged to explore their interest in art by drawing independently when they have finished their artwork in the classroom.
All students are reminded to bring an art smock to school. Art smocks can be purchased at a craft store or you may recycle an old shirt. The smocks will remain in the student’s classroom and will be brought to art class when indicated by the teacher.
In the art room, we are always looking to use recycled materials! If you would like to donate any craft supplies, please send it to school on your student’s scheduled art class day.Thank You!
