Summer School

Summer School Information is typically released by Community Education after Spring Break. First Semester Classes are typically offered during the first session in June. Second Semester classes are typically offered during the second session during July. Each session is three weeks long from 8:00am to 12:00pm, Monday - Friday. Each course does cost $199 plus any applicable fees.

In addition to taking classes at Summer School, students are also welcome to take a one semester class for free through PVOnline. Registration begins in March. Here is a link for directions.

Please speak with your Horizon Counselor before enrolling in a class to make sure it is appropriate for your academic needs.

Sweetwater Night School

Are you looking to take a class for the first time? Or perhaps retake a class for a better grade? Sweetwater's Night School program offers many classes you can find at Horizon. Sweetwater courses are teacher-led and not online classes. High School students living within PVUSD boundaries can enroll in one class every nine weeks (per quarter) and earn .5 credit. Classes are free of charge. Additional support is also offered 4:30pm to 5:00pm

Please note credit recovery programs taken outside of the Paradise Valley Unified School District are not approved by the district Record Keeping policy. All classes taken will only be approved as Elective credit ONLY with administration approval. Please speak with your Counselor about your concerns related to your child's academic progress and plan.

PVOnline

Online classes through PVSchools are made available through PVOnline. Classes are available on campus and off campus. Juniors and Seniors may take one additional class off-campus at a time free of charge. Freshmen and Sophomores may take additional classes off campus for a fee. PVOnline offers many of the classes found at Horizon and even offers classes not found at Horizon.

An online education is not for every student and requires a higher level of motivation and self discipline to maintain timelines. Please speak with your Horizon Counselor if you are interested in taking an online class

All students are able to take 1 free semester course (.5 credit) over the summer. Registration directions are listed below. Students will need to email their Counselor once they are registered so the Counselor can approve and check to make sure it is the correct class.
