1. President’s Report:
• President Deanna Zito explained the roles of the PTA Executive Board and welcomed new members
for the 2025-2026 school year.
• PTA meetings will be on the first Monday of the month unless it falls on a holiday. The October
meeting will be held remotely on October 6th, 2025, at 7:00 PM.
• President Deanna Zito detailed the structure of the meetings and proper etiquette for approving
motions and seconding.
• Motion to approve the meeting minutes from June by Member Fannie Martinez, seconded by Member
Mary Demetriou.
2. Treasurer’s Report:
• Treasurer Maggie Veres circulated the proposed budget for 2025-2025 and reviewed the need for
increased donations in order to continue the programs, events and support the PTA plans for the
children each year.
• Motion to approve the proposed budget by member Elaine Bishop, seconded by Member Linda Mier
and third by Member Mary Demetriou.
• Additional sources of fundraising were raised by many members. The PTA will be reviewing
electronic donations, company matching funds, pasta fundraiser, coffee fundraiser, greeting card
fundraiser, sketchbook fundraiser as well as a suggestion made by 7th grade student Allessea to sell
candy canes at the end of the year, similar to the Valentine’s Day candy gram.
3. Fall Festival:
• President Deanna Zito explained the events at the Fall Festival and reviewed proposed pricing.
• PTA is still accepting vendors as well as food trucks.
• PTA is seeking volunteers to support the event. Parents/Guardians that are interested should email

4. Principal’s Update:
• Principal Joann Trani spoke on the reduced class sizes and the continuing steps of the process
including welcoming 17 new staff members as the hiring process continues.
• The NYC cell phone ban is in effect for all students during the school day and the Yondr pouches are
successful in place in all grades.
• A new Parent Coordinator has been selected and has begun the onboarding process. Contact
information will be shared when available. Until this process is finalized please communicate

2. Treasurer’s Report:
• Treasurer Maggie Veres reviewed the donations and expenses for the period from the last PTA meeting. The PTA balance as of September 30, 2025, excluding Scholastic Dollars, is currently $16,432.97
• The PTA Executive Board is continuing to reviewing electronic donations, company matching funds, pasta fundraiser, coffee fundraiser and greeting card fundraisers.
• The Little Pulp Sketchbook fundraiser will begin mid October. • The Miss Chocolate fundraiser will end November 7th, 2025.
3. Fall Festival: • President Deanna Zito thanked the parents, guardians and vendors that supported the PTA Fall Festival. The event was well received and the new expanded vendors section worked well. We seek to add even more vendors next year with a continued focus on those from our school community. Please contact the PTA if you have interest in supporting as a vendor.

2. Treasurer’s Election:

President’s Report: • Motion to approve the meeting minutes from April by Member Jen DeCoursey, seconded by Member Maureen Ruggerrio. • President Deanna Zito invited Parents who have any NineDot concerns to raise them and PTA would connect them to the correct person. None were raised by the parents in attendance. 2. Treasurer’s Report: • Treasurer Mary Demetriou reviewed the donations and expenses for the period from the last Treasurer’s Report. The PTA balance as of April 30 2026, excluding Scholastic Dollars, is currently $21,169.14 • Membership voted on paying $330 for 2 children for Senior Dues and half for one student, $165.
3. Elections • No members nominated themselves for PTA President so elections were not held as the President position is a required position.

5. Membership Concerns:
• A member raised concerns that the Principal has not attended meetings this year and she would expect to see more engagement.
• Membership raised concerns about lack of community engagement from parents and teachers during meetings. Parent Coordinator Ms. Carlo will work with the current Executive Board to create a survey out to the school community to capture feedback from parents/guardians regarding their lack of engagement and any concerns with attending PTA functions.
• A member recommended we offer a Homework pass or special No Homework password for attending the PTA meeting in person.
• A member raised concerns that the School Survey was not anonymous so they did not want to fill it out.

SLT Meeting Minutes 9/25/25

Meeting called to order.
Team introductions - welcome new members.
Approved minutes and bylaws to be changed.
Chairperson and recording secretary for the new school year. The team agreed to have Ms. Farley as chairperson and Mrs. DeLustro as recording secretary.
Parent Teacher conferences extended til Dec. The vote was to keep parent teacher conferences virtual - not in person. Any in person meeting should be scheduled with the teacher.
December 4th PTC - Kids will attend 1/2 day - the PD SBO was only for last school year - not available anymore.
Iplan (by laws, attendance, minutes, CEP) - Ms. Trani will put everyone in. She put everyone in CEP. Arthur asked about what the Iplan includes - This is a record keeping platform.
All SLT meetings must in person.
School Mission Statement and Goals - Ms. Trani stated that our mission and goals were written with our instructional focus - we have an ILT/PD teams that meet - we will use data to plan lessons for students - Monday at 7:10-8:10 is PD time for teachers. Sept - conducting Mandated PD. Meet with a team to plan future PD to support teachers.

School Mascot - sent out no response - Keep Pioneers - Have kids choose their mascot. up to 5 choices on which they would want.

Implementing Yondr pouches - working successfully. Teachers went over with students - Ms Palmieri created an interactive violation sheet - no violations - Ms Mojica says the kids have been very receptive to it. Ms Trani demonstrated the pouch. They keep pouch until they leave 128.
Grading Policy was reviewed on Meet the Teacher. Revisit dress code policy in the spring.
The dress code policy is deemed by school. Enforcing dress code - putting clothes over their clothes - sneakers cause injury. Uniforms - but not enforced by public school.
Ms Farley says if you want to add to the agenda let her know.

Ms. Trani called emergency meeting to discuss C30 process for our Asst. Principal position. Currently Joseph Guzman is Interim Acting Asst. Principal.
Develop Level 1 Committee which is comprised of:

Up to 7 parents chosen by Deanna Zito
2 UFT members chosen by Agata Mojica
1 DC37 member - cannot be the parent coordinator - IE: school aide, kitchen staff, etc.
Committee will meet on October 14th for Level 1 meeting. Deanna Zito and Agata Mojica will touch base with Ms. Trani in the next two days with members for the committee. These names must be submitted beforehand.
All committee members will out confidentiality agreement.
Ms. Trani will set up interview appointments and invites to candidates. There must be several candidates chosen to interview that day.
On the day of the interviews, the committee will meet about an hour before, about 3:00 pm. They will review each candidate. If a committee member has a familial or any close relationship with any candidate, that must be disclosed before hand.
Each committee member will be given sample questions. They must ask from these sample questions. Each committee member will choose their question and establish in what order questions will be asked. For each interview, questions must be asked in the same order for each candidate.
Each committee member will be given a rating sheet they will use for each candidate. After each interview committee will debrief using rating sheets.
Once Level 1 meetings are done, Ms. Trani will invite candidates for Level 2 interview with her.

She reviewed process for the interviews and will touch base with Agata and Deanna in the next two days.

Budget:
Most classes are at reduced class size. Used funding.
December can apply for more funding. With additional funding we have AP.
Still have 7th grade science vacancy.
All other monies filled from reduced class size. Purchased chromebooks and printers. Teacher supplies. Additional books and online components for new classes.
Horizon (3 classes) funding is separate.
Per session funding - work before or afterschool. ELA/Math program funding, basketball team, regents prep and grading. testing team to prepare for state exams. Money set aside for prom and senior trip. Want Drama - play for middle school students.
Arthur asked about budget process - wondering how we ask for funding. Ms. Trani says funding gets from reduced class size budget (you can put in for additional funding for more teachers) All classes used-we're at 95% capacity. Agata says that K was low enrollment so reduced class size wasn't for K and 2nd. We get money and then budget is revisited and then we can reapply for more money.
Trani stated in the spring we make projections - make predictions for next year and speak with budget director. Start with students and then project on students coming in.
GRYC rooms are assigned and don't change.
Other programs we will offer based on staff availability - need supervisor as well (ie:Saturday program)
Title 3 Funding is for all other academic programs.
Review CEP at next meeting - no access currently.
C30 process - currently in process - positions are posted for 2 weeks - display candidates and invite in for Level 1 interview. Call back for Level 2 with just Ms. Trani and appoint for the position. Central tracks everything. In the next 2 weeks, Ms. Trani will do Level 2.
Edmentum: Exact Path - WIN What I need - Win Wednesday. Could be used for HW or in school. 40 minutes ELA/Math. Check to see if we can assign for HW - Data might be skewed. Tuesday Oct. 21 Edmentum rep will be here to support school.
Data for agenda next month - once data comes back - Look at data and see growth. Family reports should be going home.
School Mascot - Classes vote per each name. Jenelle Carlo says she will find image to go with each mascot name. Jen F create google form!

Emergency meeting called by Ms. Trani to discuss small class size budget plans for next year.
Ms Trani said she spoke with Agata and someone from the district last week regarding the application for smaller class size next year.
Ms. Trani explained she is applying for smaller class size for the 2026-2027 school year. She said we need 1 additional cluster in the middle and elementary school. The plan also includes 2 ICT sections in 3rd and 5th grades to meet compliance with SP ED. In addition, one more section of 6th and 7th grade class. Her plan reflects 100% of all grades will be at smaller class size.
She put in her plan into the system. Once she hears back, she will reach out to us. She's hoping to hear back early Spring.

Horizon funding is separate - teachers, counselors, and supplies are different than school. They have additional computers and printers.

Elevator gets a lot of use
GRYC staff got stuck in elevator.
Trani spoke to legal about elevator use - different situations occur in the elevator.
Students were using elevator without accommodations. Parents can say ok until the elevator gets stuck and poses problem.
Trying to avoid LODI within building - Superintendent approval.
Staff instructed not to ride elevator alone with students - avoid issues.
CULTURAL EVENTS:
Student Council want first International Food Night - Friday, January 23rd - sending out survey - wear cultural attire and bring food. Get local food vendors to help support - Janelle spoke about and they are excited - appetizer samples - grab and go! Culturally themed - break up by different nationality
PBIS:
AP/Trani want to STARBucks! How many star bucks for different incentives - Shoot to be....
Order from SHOPDOE for sports equipment, morning announcement, lunch with AP or principal

Each month design will change - students can submit design for STAR bucks.
