Information for Parents

Dear Parents of Grades 3,4 and 5 Science Students,

It is with great pleasure that I welcome your children into my Science Lab. Your children will be coming to my classroom for two instructional science periods each week where they will be creating wonderful memories as young scientists. In order for your child to succeed in my classroom it is important that you review my expectations, listed below with your child.

Your child is expected to:

  • Try their best and have fun!
  • Be respectful of each other, as well as the teacher
  • Come to lab prepared and contribute to class discussions
  • Bring their lab book to class both days that they have Science
  • Have legible penmanship
  • Take pride in his/her work
  • Record all of their assignments in his/her lab book
  • Work with others in his/her groups
  • Review all concepts taught before he/she has class again
  • Research what was taught and add what they learned to their conclusions
  • Hand in completed lab assignments and homework on time
  • Sign and return all test papers on the following day
  • Read at least two trade books monthly related to the science concepts being taught

Grade 4 students will be taking the New York State Science Test in May, 2019. Information will be sent as it gets closer.

When your child comes home, please have a discussion with him/her about our investigation of the day. Also, your child should review his/her lab notes each day before they attend lab. This will help them prepare for their upcoming tests. Before any test, we explicitly review the material that was taught and a review sheet or notes will be in your child's lab book to help them prepare for it.

All parents are my partners in helping our children achieve academic success, I feel together, we can help our children excel in their learning. I look forward to working with you this school year and hope these tips are helpful! If you need to contact me about your child, please feel free to send me a note or contact me at 718-627-7550.

Scientifically Yours,

Mrs. Tudda
