RESEARCH

In order to survive in relentlessly dynamic environments, cells have the fascinating capacity to alter the quantity, form, and isotope composition of their biomolecules. I am interested in how microorganisms, metabolisms, molecules, and stable isotope ratios respond to environmental change. Using microbiology and isotope geochemistry in controlled laboratory settings and field observations, I am developing tools to help characterize microbial metabolisms in modern and past environments.
