Classroom Management

Since our students will be attending classes with more than one teacher, we have decided to use a punch card that each student will carry with them. Students will be rewarded for exceptional participation and responsible choices by receiving a punch in their card. When their card is full, they will earn a reward for their great choices!

Our class works on both positive reinforcement and consequences.

Positive rewards include:

- Attending "Fun Day" (See below for more information)

- Stickers

- Pencils

- Praise

-Name in “Caught Doing Great Things” Bucket

-Soaring rocket recognition

-Treasure Box

Consequences include:

- Minutes out of recess to reflect on choices

- Writing a note to send home

- Teacher phone call to parents

"Fun Day"

Students who have earned enough punches in their card will be rewarded with "Fun Day."

During "Fun Day" we do many different things. We may allow students to bring in electronics, a snack and a drink, or have special games to play. We will notify students of what they may bring prior to each "Fun Day."

We would like to emphasize that not attending "Fun Day" is NOT a punishment. This is part of our school's implementation of PBIS- which encourages and rewards students for the positive choices they make. If a student does not earn "Fun Day," he or she will not be punished. Instead that student will do classroom activities we would have been doing anyway, such as reading or practicing math facts.
