Freshman

2018 Freshman Football Team

At Peoria Notre Dame being a part of the football program is about more than playing football. It is a family that transcends the football field and will create relationships that will last a life time. The PND Football Program's mission at the Freshman level is to take incoming freshman who have or have not played football previously, teach them the fundamentals of the game and introduce them into our Fighting Irish Football Family. Fundamentals go beyond on the field techniques and include: teamwork (brotherhood), self-confidence, goal setting/achieving, and a love for the game of football. Wins and losses are not the focus of Freshman football at PND, ensuring our new comers learn to play to their highest individual potential towards a common goal by using the Catholic values they have been taught and will continue to refine is the primary purpose. If they happen to succeed on the scoreboard along the way, then the kids have done things the right way and have succeeded as a family.

2019 Freshman Schedule:

Head Coach/ Offensive Coordinator: Steve Salander

Defensive Coordinator:

Assistant Coach: George Rothan

Assistant Coach: Patrick Arity

For the 2019 season the coaches have high expectations for the incoming group of young men. The 2018 team had a lot of success through teamwork and the development of some very special young men. The new freshmen will be expected to strive for the same level of success, hard work, more hard work, and a strong sense of teamwork will be necessary in order to accomplish the high demands of the coaches. However, learning and over achievement comes only through having fun along the way. Work can be fun, (its why we coach, it is fun and rewarding) and the kids will learn to love and respect one another, their coaches, and their opponents. The coaches will set this example, and as a team we will become a family.
