Course Description

Major issues facing the United States and the world are the focus of the course. Issues that will be addressed within the course will include the economy, poverty, education, crime, terrorism, trade, religion and human rights. Students will also have the opportunity to learn about other cultures and their issues within the framework of the course. Throughout, the class will analyze local, national, and international events. Discussion will be a significant part of the class, as well as quizzes, group projects, and debate. Students will use modern media and supplemental readings to acquire information for the course.
