Full year • 1 credit for AP plus chance for college credit

Grades 11, 12 • Elective • Fee

Prerequisite: Must have taken and passed at least 1 Foundations level course and 2 Int Level courses

These courses are designed to develop a personal voice and vision in preparation for the AP exam or for serious art students wanting to pursue a career in art. Students will better develop their skills in design, form, space, functionality, and materials use. The importance of good design, critical thinking, and problem solving will be stressed. This curriculum focuses on a tactile approach to various art techniques that the students choose to explore. Historically valued as a cultural narrative into the human condition, this medium develops a vivid visual text that communicates the values, ideals and emotions of a society. Assignments will simultaneously address formal and conceptual issues for either breadth or depth in portfolio development.

A sketchbook is required.
