2025 Dec 5 - Students finished Chapter 5 (Beginning of an American Identity) today.  They will review this chapter on Monday (Dec 8th) and test on the chapter Tuesday (Dec 9th).

2025 Nov 17 - Students Finished Chapter 3 (English Colonies Begin) and will work and complete Chapter 4 (The Colonies Develop) today and tomorrow.  We will review for the Chapter 3 / 4 Test on Wednesday and students will take the Chapter 3 / 4 Test this Thursday, November 20th.

2025 Nov 5  - Students reviewed for their End of (1st) Quarter Marking Period Assessment test that will be held tomorrow.  The Review is in their Google Classroom.  Friday is the end of the Marking Period with Report Cards distributed next Friday.

2025 Oct 20 - Students finished Chapter 2, European Exploration of the New World, today. They will go over Chapter 2 in a review tomorrow. Then, they can use the review to study for their test on Wednesday, October 22nd. On Thursday and Friday, students will start their first Document Based Question (DBQ) packet with an essay. 

2025 Oct 5 - Students will start the Patriot Pen essay today. They will fill out the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) application. They will also get instructions on this year's theme: “How Are You Showing Patriotism and Support for Our Country?” Students will have Thursday (9th) and Friday (10th) to write the essay (300-400 words) in class. On Tuesday, October 14th, when they come back from Columbus Day break, the assignment will be on Google Classroom. They must type their handwritten essay into a document in that classroom. This is a required essay and will be a test grade. However, students can choose to not have the essay sent to the VFW for judging; however if they are selected in the top three they can win money. 

2025 Oct 2 - Students finished the chapter yesterday. They reviewed it today. They will take the test tomorrow in class. Please have students study their review sheet. 

2025 Sep 22 - Today we began Chapter 1 (The 3 Worlds Meet) this should take approximately 2 weeks to complete this chapter.  Students began with the Chapter 1 Vocabulary that MUST be handwritten and due tomorrow (Tuesday, September 23rd).

2025 Sep 17 - We finished the Geography chapter today. We will review it tomorrow. Students should use the review sheet to study for the test on Friday, September 19th 

2025 Sep 9 - Geography Definitions are due tomorrow.  They MUST be handwritten.

2025 Sep 4 - Welcome to Mr. Decker's 7th Grade Social Studies Class.  Please be sure to check the website often for any updates and work from that day in class (especially if you were absent), it is updated daily.  H.W. for Monday, September 8th: 1) Proficiency Statement signed by Parent and Student as well as 2) Parent Homework assignment.
