Visual Arts Specialization (Beginning) is an introductory level course for students with a great interest in a specific area of specialization and is aligned to the North Carolina Essential Standards for Visual Arts at the beginning level. Successful completion of Foundations and Proficient is required for this course. Specialized courses may be offered at and are aligned to
each proficiency level in each arts education discipline. There may be several specialized studies available within a given discipline and proficiency level. Although many electives will have a specific emphasis, the beginning level Essential Standards for Visual Arts should be addressed to some extent within the specialization. Specialized course examples include: Ceramics, Photography, Oil Painting, Electronic Art, Art History, or other specialized studies in visual arts .
