We began our Personal Narratives in CKLA discussing dialogue and gaining understanding in determining who is speaking using context clues. How words paint pictures in our brains. In addition, how authors use Literary Devices to paint those pictures in our minds.
Math: We have started Ready-math Our beginning lessons will be Place-Value. Students will be expected to make sense of problems by asking themselves specific questions such as "What is this problem about?" " What am I expected to find out?" " What information is important?"
Social Studies: We will start with mapping skills after our Science unit on Circulatory & Respiratory systems.
Understanding parts of a map and why maps are important will be our focus when we begin.
We will rotate teaching Social Studies and Science. In choosing this style we are able to dedicate time to the topics we are covering in the one subject area at a quicker rate than trying to cover so much in such a short time span.
Science: will be up and running on September 3rd...or should I say "flowing" . We will study our body, specifically our circulatory system.
This particular study is important to me as I lost my dad in 1991 he had many health issues one of which was CIRCULATION.
I KNOW I have some future researchers and scientist in this class who are going to have a ball with this.
Who knows they might invent something even better than the echmo ...
The first student who brings me information on the echmo I certainly have something special for them.
If anyone knows personally someone who would like to come and speak on this topic, please send me information on how I can contact them.
