Month of March 2018
Students will be participating in a lifetime team activity of volleyball and in various agility skill activities. We use beach balls to teach the hitting skills in volleyball as these balls move slowly and allow the students to get in the proper hitting position. Some of the volleyball concepts they will learn about are the set pass, bump pass, rotating, and the position responsibilities. Later in March students will participate in agility skills using an agility ladder. Agility is an important aspect in every sport that requires one to move on the feet and manipulate their body with the flow of a game. You can always recreate an agility ladder by using sidewalk chalk. Make a ladder on the sidewalk with the chalk and ask your student to show you what they have learned/practiced. Students are to remain active at home for at least 3 days for 60 minutes for their Fitness at Home homework.

Month of December 2017.
This month we finish up out jump rope unit which has been aligned to our Jump Rope for Heart Community Service Project. Our school's goal is to raise at least $500 for the American Heart Association. Students should have already brought home fundraising packets. I have handed out prizes to the students who have already turned in donations. Students have until December 8, 2017 to turn in their packets. I will accept late submissions too. For the jump rope test, students have to demonstrate 5 jump rope tricks, such as the basic jump forward, basic jump backward, skier, bell, side swing & jump, front cross, any partner or group jumps for example. Any jump done backward counts as a different jump altogether. Ask your children to show you what they have learned so far.
After jump rope, we will get into our annual table tennis unit (striking with a short handled implement).
