Petaluma High Science

I have been at PHS since 1994. My degree is in Chemistry from Sweet Briar College in VA but I grew up in Sebastopol. I have worked as an environmental chemist but I am most happy in a classroom.

My goal is to encourage curiosity and to develop critical thinking skills by asking questions. I challenge each student to work to their potential. I welcome your comments and suggestions to this end. I look forward to sharing the next generation science standards with you and your students in the form of recognizing patterns, studying how form is related to function and other scientific principles and practices through the lens of chemistry.

That said, this new age of online learning is a challenge for teachers and students alike. It requires a degree of autonomy and self direction that may be new for many people. It requires critical thinking to assess what you find online and to determine what is good data and what is manufactured.
