Academics

During course selection, students should consult with their teachers, counselor and parents to determine which courses they will be most successful in. Many courses offered require specific prerequisites. Students should determine whether they meet the prerequisites of a given course before electing it by referring to the course descriptions. Students are encouraged to be careful and thorough in their selection of courses. All students are expected to continue in, and complete, the courses selected.

Course Levels

AP – Advanced Placement

Advanced Placement courses are the equivalent of a full-year college course and follow a curriculum designed by the College Board.

Honors

Rigorous and challenging Honors-level courses require extensive study of advanced topics. Honors courses are often part of a course sequence leading to advanced placement or are the equivalent of a semester course at the college level.

Academic

Academic-level courses require substantial reading, writing, research, and study skills. These courses prepare students for post-secondary education.
