Info |My name is Eric Hancock and I teach English II, Journalism, and Film Studies at Pender Early College High School. I am also an advisor for the Film Club, Creative Writing Club, and the Book Club. This is my 4th year teaching and my 3rd year here at PECHS. I attended East Carolina University where I received my BA in English with a minor in Psychology; I earned my MA in English Studies with concentrations in Literature, Film, and Technical Writing at ECU as well. I grew up in Pender County, graduating from Heide Trask Sr. High School in 2005. I am an avid Carolina Panthers fan. People also know me for my fandom for Batman and all things horror-related. I am very proud to be a part of this school and I look forward to being here for many years to come.
Karli Mikula

Info |My name is Karli Mikula, and I teach World History and Civics & Economics at Pender Early College High School. I am also the advisor of the Student Government Association. This is my 18th year teaching and 9th year at PECHS. I received a BA in History and Secondary Social Studies Teaching Licensure from Meredith College in Raleigh, NC. I grew up in Greenville, NC and currently live in Hampstead, NC with my husband, son, twin daughters, 2 dogs, and 2 cats. I enjoy exercising, singing, and watching and attending sporting events, especially NASCAR and Green Bay Packers football. I have a passion for teaching and history that I love sharing with my students!
Margo Melton

Info |My name is Margo Melton and this is my 12th year in the classroom and 4th year as a Seawolf. I teach Earth Science, Physical Science, Biology, and STEAM. I also help coach Science Olympiad, ROCAME, and run the garden club. I attended UNCW for both undergrad (B.S. Biology) and my Master's (MAT). Outside of school, I enjoy traveling, being outdoors, making art, and hanging out with my husband and daughter.

Info | My name is Melissa King and this will be my 17th year as an educator. I have taught AP Biology, Honors and General Biology along with Chemistry, Physical Science, Oceanography, Astronomy, Algebra 1, and 8th grade Math. This is my second year at PECHS having previously taught for New Hanover County schools and in Tennessee and Kentucky. I love seeing students discover new things about Science and forming strong bonds with my students in order to help them succeed.
I'm the proud mom of one son and we enjoy playing Pokemon, Roblox, and Mario Kart together.
Deven Melton

Info | My name is Deven Melton. This is my second year as a teacher assistant at Pender Early College. I enjoy writing and gardening, both of which I get to do at PECHS. I'm a co-advisor of the Garden Club and Creative Writing Club and serve as a writing tutor to PECHS students. After graduating from high school in Rocky Mount, I served as a mechanic in the Navy from 2002-2007. I then received a B.A. in English from ECU in 2009 and an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from UNCG in 2011. I live in Wilimington with my wife, Margo, who teaches science at PECHS, and my daughter, Harper, who just started kindergarten.

Info | I am currently the school counselor at PECHS. My formal education includes a Bachelors of Science in Middle Grades Education and a Masters in School Counseling from Campbell University. I also gained my licence for 9-12 Social Studies 5 years ago. Prior to teaching Social Studies and being the DLA at Pender Early College, I taught seventh grade language arts at Ridge Road Middle School in Charlotte, NC . I am originally from Pender County and love working within the community. I currently live in Surf City and I have one cat named Riley. Shannon Grable

Info |Hello! My name is Shannon Grable, and I am the Career Development Coordinator for PECHS. I earned a BA in English from UNCW and then earned my MS in Counseling Education from NC A & T State University. I earned a certificate as a Career Development Coordinator in 2014. My role at PECHS is to work with students on career exploration and in preparing students for college upon their graduation from high school. Additionally, it is my role to assist students in earning their 150 (minimum) service learning or volunteer service hours, their 36 hour internship (including job shadowing) and their camps/educational seminar opportunities (minimum of four).
