Welcome

Dear 5th Graders,

Welcome to fifth grade! I hope you are looking forward to a fun and exciting summer vacation before you begin your last year of elementary school. My name is Mr. Harris and I will be your fifth-grade teacher next school year. We will be in Room 402 which is in the east wing upstairs. I hope you are looking forward to next year just as much as I am. We have a lot of cool activities and events to look forward to throughout the year. Fifth grade will be here before you know it, it will be full of fun challenges, and opportunities for you to grow as a person and a learner. We have a lot to accomplish this year. I hope all students come in everyday ready to learn and have a positive attitude. Before we head into next year, I want you to take some time to relax, have fun, and enjoy your summer.

Some of you have probably seen me around the hallways of Pelham Elementary School, I have been a teacher in Pelham for the past 11 years. During my first year as a teacher at Pelham Elementary School, I was a special education teacher for fourth and fifth-grade students. This year will be my ninth year at Pelham Elementary School and my eighth year teaching 5th grade. I love teaching and learning! My favorite subject is math, what’s yours? When I am not teaching, I am hanging out with my wife, my son Griffin, my family, and friends. I also enjoy playing softball, golf, and disc golf in my free time. I hope you have an amazing summer and I look forward to hearing about all of your summer stories.

While you are here please check the other tabs to learn a little more about me, the class schedule, and the supply list for this year. We are always in need of general supplies, tissues, paper towels, and plastic eating utensils. If any family is having difficulty getting any of the supplies from the list, I have some extras that are individually packaged for students so don’t stress!

Next, I am asking parents to send me an email at jharris@pelhamsd.org (using an email address I can contact you throughout the year), telling me about your son or daughter. This can be as long or short as you would like. Thank you in advance for your email.

We will be having a Meet and Greet on August 24th. Be on the lookout for more information regarding the time and format of this as the start of the next school year gets closer. I hope you all enjoy your summer!

                                                 Sincerely,

Mr. Harris
