Our Junior badminton players had some amazing results at Rick Hansen on Thursday, May 23.
Mixed Doubles
Colton Doan & Erica Ho were undefeated the entire day to take home the GOLD medal!! They were 1st in their pool and went on to beat Rick Hansen, St. Francis Xavier, and St. Joseph in the playoffs.
Josh Ablan & Jacquie Hamilton were 3rd in their pool.
Boys Doubles
Han Rui Zhang & Evangelos Tsotos were 2nd in their pool and placed 4th overall out of 24 teams! They won their prelim vs Meadowvale and quarterfinal vs Rick Hansen before falling to Xavier 1 in the semis & Xavier 2 in the bronze medal match.
Ethan Kim & Calvin Bates were 1st in their pool and 5th overall after losing to Xavier 2 in the quarterfinal. They placed top 8 out of 24 teams!
Ernis Ademaj & Karlo Adam placed 3rd in their pool.
Vedanth Kaimal & David Tran placed 4th in their pool.
Girls Doubles
Rachel Ho & Sarina Wu placed 1st in their pool and 5th overall. They won their prelim vs Meadowvale before falling to John Fraser 1 in the quarterfinals. They placed top 8 out of 32 teams!
Oona Pakrul & Addison Thompson placed 2nd in their pool and 5th overall. They won their prelim vs Ascension 3 before falling to Ascension 1 in the quarterfinals. They placed top 8 overall!
Sam Hua & Jaya Chopra placed 1st in their pool and lost to Ascension 2 in the prelims to place top 16 overall.
Teia Nicholl & Vedaritha Sasikumar placed 4th in their pool.

Equipment
Goggles/eyeguards are mandatory & may be borrowed, but always good to have your own
Racquets may be borrowed, but it's best to have your own
Sharing equipment is NOT advised since your games might be at the same time as another player
If you don't have equipment at the start of your Qualifier game, then you will forfeit and your tournament is over
If you're not wearing eyeguards during your Qualifier game, you may lose a point each time (& forfeit your match if you continue to disregard the safety rule)
