The purpose of homework in math class is to practice, reinforce, and master the skill(s) that they has been taught that day.
Students will have daily homework assignments that are due the following day (unless otherwise specified). It must be completed before the class period, otherwise it will be considered late.
They are to be done neatly in pencil (no ink pen) with each problem showing all work.
Each completed homework assignment receives 10 points for full effort.
Assignments that show minimal work/effort (i.e., answers only) or sloppy will need to be re-done and will receive late credit (5 points out of 10) once completed correctly.
Students are encouraged to check their answers located at the back of the textbook, if applicable.
Assignments
Assignments should take students 10-35 minutes to complete.
Any assignments started in class is considered to be homework for the day.
Assignments from the textbook can be done online to check their answers or view tutorials, but students will still need to show their work and calculations in their notebook, even if they successfully submitted it online. Otherwise, it will be considered missing until the work has been shown and then will receive late credit.
Assignments can be in the form of worksheets/handouts. All work and calculations used must be shown on the handout. If there is not enough room to show work on the handout, students may use additional line paper to show their work. Otherwise, it will be considered missing until the work has been shown and then will receive late credit.
Students correct their own assignments in class. Students cross out or erase the wrong information and write the correct work and/or answer.
Assignments that have been graded can be used as a study aide. Students can always re-do a problem and check if their answer is correct.
