Recent development of IT (information technology) causes great impact in today's educational arena. Teachers, as proficient IT users, are expected to be able to discern and integrate IT appropriately and effectively in teaching and learning. This course aims to enable participants to be an apt and competent integrator of IT in teaching and learning (KNOWLEDGE). Students will also understand the capabilities of computer technology in instruction (PRACTICE), as well as current and evolving developments within their own areas of interest. This course is conceptually and explicitly tied to the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) standards in technology that have been adopted by National Council for Accreditation for Teacher Education (NCATE) for all teachers. These standards provide a clear view of the important processes and uses of technology in educational settings (AUTHENTIC LEARNING).
