FAQ
When and where is the Makers Market?
Tuesday, December 2nd from 6:00p.m.-8:00 p.m. at the Orono Activities Center.
How many items should I bring to sell?
Your guess is as good as ours! The Activities Center will be bustling with practices and a boys varsity basketball game. We also hope to draw lots of community members to buy your products, but we never know who is going to buy what.
Who can get a table at the Makers Market?
Any OMS Student can fill out the form to reserve a table to the Makers Market.
What sort of things can I sell?
Anything handmade by OMS Students. Examples include, baked goods, woodworking projects, photography, paintings, pottery, sewing projects, etc.
Are there any restrictions on what I can sell?
All items have to be handmade by OMS Students. This is not a garage sale, it's a kind of craft fair or farmers market. If you're making any baked goods, include an ingredient list.
Can I sell items made by my family business?
While we love to support local family businesses, our goal with the Makers Market is to spotlight our students talents and creativity. Please include submissions for student-made items only.
Does OMSPA take a percentage of my sales from the day?
Absolutely not! All sales made at your table are yours to keep.
What do I need to bring to the Makers Market?
- Your products
- A payment method (cash, check, Venmo, etc.)
- A way to display your products if you wish. Think about store displays and how they catch your eye. What will you do to your table to make people come over and take a look at your creations?
- Bags for customers to take your product home safely.
When can I setup my table?
The Makers Market will be on Tuesday, December 3rd from 6:00-8:00 in the Activities Center. Tables will be available for setup at 4:00 and everything must be cleaned up by 8:30.
What sort of marketing is done for the Makers Market?
OMSPA will help spread the word to the Orono District though Peachjar, Orono website, electronic sign, emails and flyers. But it's important that you help bring people too! Tell your neighbors and relatives about the Makers Market. The more people that come to the Activity Center, the more people to buy your products and your classmates products.
Can I make something with my friends or siblings?
Yes, if you want to team up and make products with friends or sibilings go ahead! Just make sure to figure out how you will split your profits before the Market.
Who can I reach out if I have more questions?
You can send OMSPA Members an email at omspa@orono.k12.mn.us.
