ONCE UPON A FIELD DAY...

Unity Games/Field Day

Welcome to the Moreland Hills Elementary Once Upon A Field Day Unity Games/Field Day. The students will have the opportunity to celebrate physical activity by participating in new fun stations as well as our inflatables. This year’s field day will take place June 5th, rain or shine. However if it does rain, we will only have the inflatables inside the gym and use alternate schedule provided. This year the stations will take place around the front of the building as well as the upper fields in order to create enough space for some our activities. We understand that there may be some delay due to travel time between a few stations, but we have put activities that only require quick simple directions after the the farther distances. Please follow the map to help with travel time as well. Some of the stations this year have a more competitive vibe but we still want to emphasize cooperation whenever possible and as always promote good sportsmanship among all of the students.

In addition to Unity Games, the PBIS team has put together a special "Blown Away" program that will take place in the AM or PM opposite of your Unity Games stations. Enclosed in the rest of the packet are teacher rules/expectations, a schedule for the day, an adjusted schedule in case of rain, descriptions of each station, and a map.

Thanks,

Chad and Jen

TEACHER RULES/EXPECTATIONS:

    1. Teachers please go over the information with your class. You can incorporate this year's theme any way that you see fit. You may design a class tribe flag or wear matching shirts or headbands...be creative!
    2. Teachers are expected to escort your class throughout the 12 different stations. (Please see schedule and map to see where your class begins.)
    3. PLEASE prepare to have two equal teams at some stations. (Some stations will have four teams; two from each class participate against each other. You may choose to do a boys team and girls team as long as both paired up teachers agree.)
    4. Please have your students put their names on their water bottles prior to participation.
    5. You may participate with your class provided no one is in need of disciplinary supervision. If a student makes a poor choice, especially pertaining to good sportsmanship, please hold that student out of the next one or two stations.
    6. Keep your Field Day/Unity Games packet with you so you can help reinforce the understanding of the station’s rules.
    7. If an injury occurs, please send them with an escort to go into the building to the nurse.
    8. All students should try and use the bathroom before participating in the games. However, if a child needs to use the bathroom send them in the building with an escort. The station in the gym is also a good time to use the bathroom or to refill their water bottle.

* We will continue to use Remind 101 to help us to facilitate the transition between stations like last year. Mr. Parrotta and Mr. Anderson will be sending out remind texts to your phone. Please remember to sign up before the event to get up to date info. It is helpful to have the app but not necessary. Sign up at Remind:

Class name: Unity Games

Class code: @goldzub

School: Moreland Hills Elementary School

Friendly reminder to all parent volunteers and staff; Please stay off of your cell phones besides getting the remind texts while helping at the stations. We need to be supervising and helping to make this an enjoyable day for everyone.

Have fun and help everyone remember that this is a fun day, not a competitive day!
