Open Hardware and Software for the Radio Amateur
This site is being developed as a single source for Open Hardware and Software of interest to Amateur Radio operators. The intent is to provide a wide array of projects, links, and tutorials in areas such as programming, analog and digital design, embedded computing, modeling and analysis software, test equipment, radio equipment, antennas, and more!
While there are many other sites devoted to some of these areas, the hope is that this site can provide a "one-stop" place for hams to find the information they need.
All projects hosted on the site will be freely available with the author(s) choosing an applicable open-source license (selections TBD).
The first actual project is intended to be a keyer based on the MSP430 Launchpad from TI. Why choose this platform? Well, a cost of $4.30 $9.99 (including shipping!) is the biggest one! Also the (board) hardware is completely open-source and a tool chain for software development can be put together from open-source tools. Finally, both hardware and software are easily customizable.
