Unit Overview

This is a brand new unit for the 2022-2023 school year! Students will engage in a five week Project Based Learning experience to learn about the history of immigration to the United States and current policies around the topic. Students will interact with fiction and nonfiction texts as well as primary and secondary sources to answer two driving questions;

1. What should be our nation's policy on immigration?

2. Why is it important to have diversity in a country?

Students have five choices for their final projects. The final project should answer one of the two driving questions and will be presented to the class on February 8, 2023. Project choices include;

1. Write a script for and record a public service announcement

2. Create a social media campaign

3. Write and give a speech or Ted Talk

4. Write a script for and record a podcast

5. Write a script for and record a newscast
