Letter to Parents: See PDF below.
Timeline:
Starting on April 16 and running through May 11, 2018, students will be given time to research and develop a presentation on their specific area of focus. This area will connect a modern day global issue to the same theme studied in the past. For example, if you choose to study the modern day versions of genocide, you could then connect topic to what we have studied on the Holocaust, the Rape of Nanking, the Hutu vs. Tutis, the Belgians in the Congo, etc.
All costs for the program have been covered through grants, except the $2 cost for a tri-fold poster.
Step 1 = Divide into groups and find a local group or person connected to your topic. Using the invitation letter format provided by your teacher, write an invitation to take part in the History Day 2018. This is due NO LATER than the end of the class on May 7, 2018. You need to have an accurate address to use for mailing purposes.
Step 2 = Research the global issue of your choice. Fulfill all components connected to this part of the rubric.
Step 3 = Research how the current day issue connects to events in the past. Fulfill all components connected to this part of the rubric.
Step 4 = Fulfill any extra research you need to do, including your debate question. Print out pictures, titles, headlines, articles, etc you will use for your tri-fold poster. See below for the letter to parents and the ISSN one-pager.
Step 5 = Creation of the tri-fold poster. Completion of project. Fulfill all components connected to this part of the rubric.
May 11 = History Day, meet by your assigned table at 8:10 AM. See the following link for the schedule of History Day.
