When I first came to Odyssey in 2013, I taught special education for three years. After that I made the switch to teaching 4th grade for two years. I then taught 3rd grade for four years, and 1st grade for one year. This year I am back in the special education department as a literacy teacher supporting students on their reading and writing goals.
I graduated from Hofstra University in 2010 with a Bachelors degree in Psychology and Elementary Education. I then stayed at Hofstra for graduate school, and in 2013 graduated with a dual Masters of Science in Education in Special Education and Literacy Studies.
Outside of teaching my other big passion has always been dance. I started dancing at the age of three and it has been my entire life ever since. I was on the nationally ranked Hofstra University Dance Team in college and had the amazing privilege of dancing with Usher at the 2007 NFL Kickoff in New York City. That is by far one of my all time favorite experiences. I have coached both high school and college dance teams and have also taught dance at a local dance studio. I try to have dance parties in my classroom whenever we have free time.
My family are some of my best friends and I enjoy all the fun things we do together. I especially love spending time with my 6 year old nephew Connor and 2 year old nephew Collin. I always have fun and silly stories to share about them!
My goals for this year are to be able to help my students find a love for both learning as well as to encourage them to pursue their talents and interests. I want my students to be passionate about their future and try their best at everything they take on.
